On July 19, 2022, Henley & Partners presented the results of the Passport Index for the third quarter of 2022, based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Azerbaijan is in 78th place in this index, and last quarter our country was in 75th place.
The leader in the rating is Japan. The member states of the European Union (EU) are in the top ten of the rating - Germany and Spain are in 3rd place with 190 visa-free destinations. Afghanistan ranks last, and its citizens enter 27 countries around the world without a visa. Russian passport holders are virtually cut off from the rest of the world due to visa difficulties and airspace closures in the EU, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the US and the UK. Therefore, Russians find it difficult to go to these directions. For them, Istanbul and Dubai have become central transit points. Theoretically, the position of the Russian passport has not changed much - it is in 50th place in the ranking with visa-free access to 119 countries of the world. During the past period, Russia signed visa-free agreements with Albania, Belize and Burundi.
